Bigsun Systems Co., Ltd. (CEO Tae-il Kwon), a company specializing in Wi-Fi and wireless LAN, held a partner day event at El Tower in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 27th and shared the latest trends in the wireless communication market and future prospects.

At the event held under the theme of "Integrated Wireless Network in the Era of Wi-Fi 7," presentations were made focusing on the latest Wi-Fi 7 technology and technology trends related to wireless Ethernet.

According to the announcement, the latest Wi-Fi 7 minimizes errors (Jitter) in which signals appear faster or slower than scheduled, secures high reliability, significantly reduces latency, and provides immediate and consistent communication services even in dense environments.

Communication networks develop around three factors to consider: △ speed △ delay △ stability, and from this point of view, Wi-Fi 7 has advanced significantly compared to the previous one.

In particular, Wi-Fi 7 achieves lower latency with wide channel bandwidth of up to 320 MHz and advanced communication technology. This is an improvement in latency compared to Wi-Fi 6, which shows high delay in a crowded environment.

The core technology that makes this possible is 'multi-link operation (MLO). MLO is a technology that can simultaneously transmit and receive data across multiple radio bands and contributes dramatically to reducing latency. Users can also enjoy transmission and reception speed and stability as if they are using a wired network wirelessly.

Accordingly, Wi-Fi 7 is expected to be used in advanced information and communication technology (ICT) convergence services such as 8K ultra-high definition video content, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), industrial Internet of Things (IoT), robot control, and remote diagnosis and surgery.

In addition, as wireless networks spread rapidly, wireless Ethernet technologies "Point-to-Point (PTP)" and "Point-to-Multipoint (PMP)" are drawing attention.

PTP·PMP is a technology that wirelessly transmits Wi-Fi signals without connecting separate data cables so that Wi-Fi signals can be used even at a distance from the base station. PTP connects base stations and nodes one-to-one, and PMPs one-to-many. Previously, data between a communication base station and a wireless access point (AP) were generally exchanged through communication cables.

This is useful to provide Wi-Fi to disaster medical facilities that cannot be constructed immediately or to islands and mountains that incur excessive costs compared to the utility of wired construction.

In particular, wireless Ethernet is being spotlighted as a key element that can implement unmanned and automated construction equipment in civil engineering and construction sites. By mounting a wireless AP on construction equipment and connecting it with a base station and PTP or PMP, a high-quality network through the latest Wi-Fi can be built without a cable hypothesis. It is possible to achieve unmanned operation through communication between cameras and sensors that support autonomous driving while ensuring free work of heavy equipment and remote servers and control facilities.

Tae-il Kwon, CEO of Big Sun Systems, said, "If you look at recent construction cases such as Soongsil University and Lotte World Tower, the wireless backhaul-based Wi-Fi communication speed using PTP equipment is comparable to that of wired," adding, "Considering that up to 7 gigabits per second (Gbps) can be obtained with PTP equipment if it is one-tenth of the cost of installing optical cables, we predict that wired-based Wi-Fi will disappear in the future."

Meanwhile, following the exchange of Wi-Fi and wireless Ethernet technology trends, Big Sun Systems' major solutions to support the advanced wireless environment and the rapidly increasing demand for Wi-Fi were introduced.

CEO Kwon emphasized that it has a variety of high-performance products, including the industry's only high-density AP and equipment that covers a radius of 1km.

He also mentioned that he is paying attention to the possibility in the procurement market as the scale of domestic public procurement is rapidly increasing. CEO Kwon said, "11 wireless LAN APs and 7 network switches are registered for procurement, and PTP and PMP equipment are also considering registration in the second half of the year."

Big Sun Systems has partnered with Cambium Networks, a wireless broadband solution provider, to provide equipment and integrated management systems such as indoor and outdoor APs, wireless backbone, and switches. And it has been supplied to various fields such as △ transportation △ exhibition hall △ local government △ educational institution △ hospital △ hotel, leisure △ county, research institute △ company.

In particular, the company is increasing the number of cases of construction through specialized services for each application. It has built Wi-Fi on more than 80% of domestic trains, including high-speed trains such as KTX and SRT that move at a high speed of more than 300 kilometers per hour, and supplied Wi-Fi solutions to exhibition halls such as COEX and KINTEX, where large-scale personnel are concentrated.

Big Sun Systems has a mobile Wi-Fi kit (RDK) that can be installed and deployed in less than five minutes and supports Wi-Fi solutions for international events and other events. From the 2018 inter-Korean summit to the 2023 Samsung Electronics Galaxy Unpacked event, Wi-Fi zones have been established for security or convenience of attendees at events that have attracted attention worldwide.

"Big Sun Systems, which has wireless design technology and 800 construction cases nationwide that have been accumulated over the past 13 years, has grown with the motto of providing the best service to customers," CEO Kwon said. "As a vendor, Big Sun Systems promises to continue to provide the best wireless service to our partners and customers."
